How can meditation help you?

Updated: May 15, 2024

One of the most important practices of Ayurveda is meditation. It is a technique for going beyond the chatters of the mind into a quieter level of awareness, until we experience the pure silence within.

Meditation in addition to health benefits, allowed me to really discover myself. Through everyday practice , I was able to go beyond the limited identity that the mind created of and for me, and was able to experience my true self. I have often found when I don’t begin my day with meditation, I don't feel grounded and calm. It brings me inner peace and really helped me get through the brutal treatments of chemotherapy.

Some wise words form the master himself, Dr Deepak Chopra explains, in the long-term, meditation provides many benefits for our physical and mental health, including decreased stress and inflammation, lower blood pressure, greater homeostasis or balance, and the activation of genes that are responsible for good health, coupled with the deactivation of genes that contribute to the development of disease.

The physical benefits of meditation include:

  1. The stimulation of the body’s self-repair mechanisms and self-regulation

  2. Lowered blood pressure and heart rate

  3. Decreased inflammation

  4. Better sleep

  5. Improved immune function

The mental and emotional benefits of meditation include:

  • Decreased stress and anxiety and increased feelings of relaxation and peace

  • Expanded experience of healing emotions such as love, compassion, joy, equanimity, and gratitude

  • Decreased experience of painful emotions that constrict awareness, including anger, hostility, guilt, fear, anxiety, shame, and depression

  • The ability to respond consciously rather than reacting in a conditioned, melodramatic way

  • Increased focus, memory, and ability to learn

The benefits of meditation are both immediate and long-term. Try it for yourself and feel the difference, I promise, you will begin to see yourself in a different way & perhaps begin the journey to self-love♥️
