What is "Oil Pulling"?

Oil pulling known as Kavala or Gandusha, is an ancient Ayurvedic natural remedy for improving health. You can show yourself some love by practicing this easy natural treatment every day.

By swishing pure oils in your mouth, you pull harmful bacteria, fungus and other harmful organisms from your mouth, teeth and possibly throat.

It is believed to cure about 30 systemic problems in our body, from relief of migraine to possibly asthma.

Yes I know you have more questions?

1. Which oil should I use?

As per Ayurveda, the best oil is sesame oil, but coconut oil can be used. I personally find coconut oil to be more tolerable.

2. When is the best time to do oil pull & how much?

First thing in the morning, before you eat or drink anything is best. Take about 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of oil put it in your mouth and swish it around.

3. How long should I do it for?

Swish it around in your mouth anywhere between 5-20 minutes. You can start at 5 minutes and work your way up to 20minutes. While you are swishing, the oil is pulling in bacteria and becomes toxic.

4. What do with it after I'm done?

Please spit it away carefully into the trash or toilet and rinse your mouth a couple of times. You can then brush your mouth as normal.

5. What other benefits does oil pulling provide?

  • It can strengthen your teeth and jaw

  • It is a great remedy for bleeding gums

  • It prevents bead breath

  • It avoids dryness of lips, mouth & throat

  • It can possibly prevent cavities and gingivitis

This little self-care technique can surprise your dentist at your next visit, with a gold star for practicing good oral hygiene. It can be our little secret ;)
